QRT - 1525 QSOs in the log

Already QRT. Antennas down and packed. Holidays with radio finished. Just a few more days without CQ... and go home. I have to wait for autumn and next trip. Where? I do not know yet.
Best 73s to all!

Last night coming

Last night on the island begins. I am going to be on 20m starting from about 16:00z.
Hope to catch some NA...

QRT soon

Last night of operation is approaching. Still had no success with NA. Maybe tonight on 20m? Yesterday was difficult. A lot of QRM from contest. Only 100 QSOs increased.
Today I will pack my 40m vertical which was, unfortunately, useless. Tomorrow morning I have to get down the hexbeam.
Sorry for a lack of digi operation . My digi interface didn't want to cooperate... I had no time to try to fix it. Preferred to work ssb in a spare time.
The Koh Rong Samloem is beautiful. Very nice beach and shallow bay. Water clean, at this time, at least. The people from Secret Paradise Resort so friendly and helpful. I wish to come back here.

Sorry for self-spotting...

Years ago hams were searching DX's on bands, nowadays they are only searching on cluster...
I want to apologize for self-spotting but I am able to spend with radio only limited time. The main reason of my trip to Koh Rong Samloem is holidays. So, when I realized that 30 min, calling CQ does not bring any effect I started self-spotting. Any of my spots usually gives an effect within maximum 3 minutes :).
My second consideration is that some of hams does not listen at all. They switch on their linears and just calling making a lot of QRM. Today one of EA7 operators called me continuously covering all other stations. I answered him at least 15 times. Never any reaction, any answer from him. I worked split so if he would be able to copy me he would do it without any problem.

More than 1100 QSO's logged. First NA station in the log.

Yesterday night I logged first station from NA (VA). No other NA's have been copied.
More than 1100 QSO's done. 30% from EU.

NA still wanted

Within half an hour I will try to call on 40 m (7.160 mhz). At 1300z I will be on 17 m (18.260 mhz).

20m opening to EU

Last night when I was going to go to the bed, not having any hope for QSOs, EU became to reply my CQ and heavy pile-up occurred. More than 130 QSO with EU done.

K index = 5

Sun seems to be not very cooperating...

April 15th - QRT till 10:00 UTC

Tomorrow I will not be QRV till, at least, 10:00 UTC,
Vertical for 40m is up. I am going to check it tonight.

JA's are very cooperating

I would like again to say thank you to all JA's operators. They are orderly and very cooperating. This is a pleasure to handle a pileup when nobody makes QRM. See you on air again!

Noise S9+

After quite acceptable noise level during daylight the night brought me again S9-S9+.
No copy any station. Only noise and noise...

300 QSO's in the log

Today I worked SSB on 15m. 300 QSO, mainly with JA. Very few EU.
Thank you JA's operators for cooperation. Always when I tried to call EU all JA's were waiting patiently.
I hope to try RTTY tonight.

Problem with noise

I have assembled the Hexbeam however had no help to raise it before sunset. I will do it today. The SWR is low but I experience very high noise level S8-S9 and do not able to copy any station... I am trying to find a reason of that. Any advice will be appreciated.

My first vacation with Hexbeam

This time I decided to bring with me, instead of simple wire antenna or Buddipole, the Hexbeam antenna.
I am going to raise it close to the bungalow so, I do not need to worry of distance to the beach, radials etc. This antenna will also allow me to switch easily between bands.
The Hexbeam is manufactured by Waldi SP7IDX who was so kind to support me designing the logo and preparing t-shirts. Many thanks for that Waldi!
Besides the Hexbeam I am going to have a wire vertical for 40m too.
As I do not operate cw I will work mainly SSB as well as RTTY and PSK-31. Those digi modes will be used mainly at night when my xyl will be sleeping, so I will not be able to speak loud. The place I have booked for accomodation ensures 24h electricity. I also expect to have an access to the internet. I will upload logs at least once a day. After return home I will also upload the logs to LoTW.
As usual the QSL cards will be designed after holidays as I want to use pictures taken by me on the island. I will answer cards sent direct or via bureau. I will be also using Clublog OQRS.

April 2016 activation of AS-133

April 12-18, 2016 I am going to operate from Koh Rong Sanloem Island - Secret Paradise Resort (QTH loc. OK10pn).
The location has open paths to EU and NA. I will work using Hexbeam antenna and FT-857D (100W) mainly SSB and digital (PSK & RTTY) modes.
